My Bass is bothering my neighbor (I'm in the basement and he is above me). He came down once and used some expletives describing the noise. Now he bangs on the floor loudly (he has hardwood floors and we are in an old house). I don't really care about the bass, which seems to be the most penetrating. Watching a movie I want to hear the words which means I have to have the volume up on a certain level. When explosions etc.. go off it effects the Bass too much. What can I do? I don't want to start a conflict with anyone but I want to enjoy normal things like watching a movie without being yelled at.

I have an old set of computer speakers, 4.1, It has a Subwoofer. I would get headphones but A) I want to watch it with my girlfriend who lives with me and B) I use headphones at work as part of my work so I need some time away from the phones (health reasons and I just don't want them on all the time :))

Your neighbor sounds like a really great guy (not really). Just turn the subwoofer down or maybe unplug it alltogether and you should be fine. Honestly, it seems as if he's being the bigger jerk here, though.

in case you reside in an condominium then i don't be attentive to if a stereo device is a stable concept. in basic terms simply by fact the bass will carry regardless of how low the quantity is. If I have been you i might in basic terms shop the sound device on the television. they're build so the sound won't carry into partitions and such. Sorry yet portion of residing in an condominium is giving up some stable stuff. stable success.

You're in the wrong here. It's wrong to be bothering your neighbor. You can ask the landlord if he can install something on your ceiling to deaden the noise. You can find out when your neighbor is not at home. You can invite the neighbor to join you. You can stop watching movies with loud explosions. You can go to the movie theater instead of renting films. You can go over to your girlfriends' house to watch flicks. Or you can get two sets of headphones and use them with your girlfriend. There's a lot of solutions, you just don't want to inconvenience yourself.
