We are planning a transatlantic trip with our family on the Queen Mary 2. We have a five year old daughter and a 1 year old son. Have you done it? Was it fun? Was it appropriate for small children? Children's activities? Safe?
I would love to hear from employees or passengers if possible, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cunard is one of my favorite lines. They are hard to be in quality. They do cater more to adults, but they actually have pretty good childrens activities onboard.

The ship is really great and I highly recommend it. But, you may find that it is more enjoyable for just the adults. There is some to do for them, but not as much as some of the lines that are better for families, i.e. Disney.

I've included a link to a great, detailed review for your ship, you can also read more passenger reviews there and also talk on the message board about the ship.

I've never traveled with kids on this ship, so I don't want to go into much detail, but the people I know that have said the kids had a great time. However, these children were used to going on business trips with their parents and also sitting through boring meetings, etc. They also usually take someone along with them to take care of the kids of they go on QM2. If you kids like to have tons of activities, you may want to look into another line.

Really, I think it just depends on your family. I suggest looking over the link to see what you find and if you feel it would work. I love the ship and the cruise, but you may find your kids like Disney or Royal Caribbean a lot better.

i'm a shuttle representative and consider the cruise representative's answer above. I did the QE2 transatlantic and celebrated my fortieth birthday on board - the only individual youthful than myself replaced right into a undesirable 7 12 months previous traveling along with his grandparents. i replaced into bored on board, won't be able to think of how bored this undesirable little boy might desire to have been. QM2 is a extra moderen deliver, in spite of the undeniable fact that it nevertheless does the comparable itinerary and nevertheless appeals to a lots older industry phase that enjoys a cruise with few events, quiet ecosystem and rest. in assessment to a time-honored cruise, the deliver does not provide up everywhere enroute, like a Caribbean or Alaskan cruise, so which you're cruising 24/7. maximum persons of the transatlantic crossing would be interior the North Atlantic and no rely what time of 12 months, it is going to likely be chilly and generally windy on deck, so do not plan on spending a super form of time on deck or interior the pool. in case you do detect a heat day to apply the pool, understand that the pool isn't heated, so it somewhat is an exceptionally chilly dip. The entertainment on board is going to be of a sort to charm to maximum persons of passengers, so do not assume splashy Las Vegas sort of exhibits. The entertainment on board is state-of-the-artwork and geared for adults - classical song stay overall performance, lectures, and so on. Cruise strains do repositioning cruises the place they bypass the Atlantic east to west in Oct or Nov. and west to east in Apr or might, so which you will e book on a great determination of cruise strains that should be extra new child-suited in case you propose on traveling for the duration of those cases. while you're making plans this as purely a holiday cruise then i might ask you to contemplate a extra generic, new child-friendly cruise with a holiday spot of your selection. while you're making plans this transatlantic crossing as a skill of transportation to Europe, then be sure you carry alongside acivities and toys your new child will relish. regardless of if the deliver has some style of youngster's software on board, it heavily isn't available 24/7 and you will need products to maintain your little ones occupied. good success!
