Crying over little things can be the result of too much stress, not enough sleep, hormone fluctuations, or any number of things.
If you're experiencing a lot of stress in your life, try to find ways to cut down on the stress. If you've got a huge project to work on, you can't change that fact - but you CAN change the way you approach it in order to reduce your stress.
Some common tips for destressing:
__Journaling - keeping a written record of your thoughts and feelings can help you work through them, get them "out", and even recongnize patterns of stress
__Healthy living - the things we eat and drink can have a huge impact on our stress levels. Cut back on caffeine and processed sugar, drink more water and eat more fresh fruits and veggies. Exercise can also be a useful tool for reducing stress. Swimming, jogging, lifting weights and other healthy activities can increase our endorphins and combat stress.
__Just breathe - breathing properly can combat anxiety. Short, shallow breaths increase heart rate and give us that fight-or-flight feeling, so pay attention to breathing in and out slooooowly and from deep within.
Sleep disturbances can also contribute to stress. Create a calming bedtime routine to ensure you climb into bed relaxed and ready for sleep. Have a sleep schedule (going to bed and rising around the same time daily) and stick to it as much as possible. Keep a notepad and pen on your bedside table so you can jot down things that keep running through your head as you try to get to sleep - this can help you "let go" of them and know that you won't forget them.
Hormones can also be a contributing factor to emotional highs and lows. Keep a mood journal for a couple of months to see if there's a pattern to the highs and lows of your moods. Some women experience PMS on a level that impacts their lives to the point that they seek the help of a professional. There are treatments available if you feel your PMS is strongly inhibiting your life - speak with your doctor if you feel this is the case.
Good luck!

Some of our sensitive than others. I have been a sensitive one my whole life and cry at the drop of a hat.
I cry with sad movies, stress, embarrasment, when the truth be told, and if someone is hurt or dies. Give me anything and I can cry. It is just my makeup and nothing to be ashamed about. Everyones different. Some people never cry and this is actually less healthy. We need to get our emotions out of the bottle not lock them away. But of course, we need to make sure we are maturing properly. As you mature, little things will not bother you as bad. Then it will be the bigger things to rattle your cage and make you cry.
My philosophy is this when I get into a bad situation:
WHAT IS THE WORST THAT CAN HAPPEN? DYING?
And then I move on. If you are not going to die in the situation it really is not that bad and not worth crying over. Just work it out. If it does involve death, cry and get it all out and then move on. Sometimes we mourn way too long and I am guilty of that.
Things that are not a big deal can be worked out. Write them down with the pros and cons. Look critically at the list and see how you can take action to move the cons to the pros. That is the best way to learn to solve problems before they get too big and out of control. I do it all the time.
The only thing that has caused me tears lately is my study of Spirituality. I have had some real awesome experiences that has brought many a tear to my eye, even in public. But each tear served a purpose for my soul to learn and grow, as we should.
Good Luck on your journey in LIFE.

Some of us are super sensitive to what/who is around us. I cried alot in my younger years, but as I've gotten older, I guess I have that inner strength everyone talks about and I don't get as emotional. Stress can cause this, so can lack of sleep. Anyway, it sounds like that's just who you are.

crying often is not a bad thing. it is actually somewut good... if you are crying that means you are not hiding all of your emotions inside, which can cause bad things to happen... the only thing you can do to stop it is try to hold yourself together! it can be a sign of stress but not always

it is good to cry, because when you cry you are releasing hormones in your tears that cause stress in your body.... that is why you tend to feel better after you cry. you are releasing those stress hormones. don't hold in your tears, there is a reason for why we cry. :)

Talk to your doctor about depression. Most likely he can prescribe you with something (antidepressants or something else) that will help you out.
