I know there are many defects associated with these drugs for children born to users and also from pre conception users, those who stopped taking them prior to conception. I am also aware they are dangerous to unborn children. But how far back must a person not take them for it not to affect any future conception of the ex user of these dangerous drugs?

It depends on the drug. Most of these drugs have very little data concerning pregnancy, conception and birth defects. You'll have to look at each drug individually and make a decision based on your risks, the data on each drug and it's effectiveness for you.

Ideally any pregnancy should be free from all drugs. Realistically that's not always possible. You'll have to weigh the risks and benefits in your individual case.

Any drug prescription and over the counter may and will cause problems ...if you were taking a psychotropic drug you need to tell both the doctor prescibing the drug and your Gyn.......IF you have been off the drug more than a year you are ok anything less than a year I would worry....A year will eliviate any drug in the body and when pregnant make sure you do not use anything ...luv kara
