To be perfectly honest,Spongebob is ageless.He is the eternal kid and will remain so,even if he has a jos and will manage(eventually) to pass the driving test.Stephen Hillenburg first sketched the adorable sponge in 1987 but the first episode was aired on the 1st May 1999

Spongebob is 54 years old. He has failed his driver's test 38 times, once a year for 38 years. 16 years old to take the test for the first time so 16+38=54. He will never drive!

I would think he is in his late 30's-40's since the actors from his favorite childhood show (Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy) are old enough to be in a retirement home.

Id love to know. They say he's just a kid but he's old enough to drive a boat and have a job,so why is he eating Ice cream at the goofy goober place and worried about getting balloons. He's cool,though. I prefer Squidward personally.

Older than high school age because in one episode he was talking to a fish he used to go to high school with. But always young at heart!
