It all depends on where he is located. At some FOBs they have internet access in the rooms, in which case (assuming he has a laptop), he can be on the internet as much as his schedule allows. At other places they have small internet cafes to share with hundreds of other people, so there is a time limit on the computers (usually about 30 minutes). Still some other places have no internet, though those are few and far between. The only way to really know the situation at the base is to wait until they get there and see how the conditions are.
I have never heard of them being limited to only their .mil email addresses. I guess if they are using a computer at work, that would make sense. But if they are using a private computer or the internet cafes, they are allowed to check email, IM, use webcams where available, buy things online, basically do anything they want except look at porn.

All depends on where they are at. that is such a huge open ended question. Is he in the Army out in the field daily, less time then. Is he a computer guy that sits behind a desk more time.
That is like asking how often do you get to fire your weapon while deployed. Depends on where you are at!!

depends on where he is, what his job is and a whole bunch of other factors. Some guys don't get any access at all, others have regular access. some have to share five or six comps with hundreds of fellow servicemen.

It depends on which base they're at. My husband has internet in his room. He can be online whenever he has free time and there isn't a blackout.
