This is a very good question. I'm sure this is something we have all wondered about from time to time. The problem with making change, although it's innocent enough, is the outward appearance of the act. There will be at least one person who sees you doing this who will get the wrong idea and think you are helping yourself to the collection. (Instead of putting in a twenty and taking a five to give $15.00). For good measure, I'd avoid this practice and ensure to have the correct amount ready before the service. This will give you a great excuse to go to Starbucks beforehand to get the correct amount you need for the offering.

The act of tithing should be a selfless act, not one where you need to make change. God is happy when you tithe.
Since you are not supposed to let one hand know what the other is doing, making change would only draw attention to what you are doing, so no, do not make change. If you see that you only have a $20, and you only can put $10 in the plate, wait until the next time you are in church and then give.

That sounds ike a stable concept, regardless of the undeniable fact that it is not useful. human beings are not going to shop 50 cents an afternoon until eventually it extremely is performed via the infants. I say have a vehicle wash and the human beings washing the automobiles dress up as biblical characters. $5 For a John the Baptist Wash - merely gets the vehicle moist. $10 For the Pontius Pilate wash - he washes his palms in a while! $20 for a Jesus wash... He even washes your indoors! call it the "Immaculate Wash" :)

If people glare at you each time you do this, then it's probably not a good idea. It would be better to write a check for the right amount or have the right change ready before you go to church.
If you are a Christian, we are cautioned not to cause our brothers to sin. Let's not give people a reason to glare.

You never ever ever ever dip your hand into the collection plate to make change.
Other people are glaring at you since they believe that you are helping yourself to a little extra cash.
Totally unacceptable, but I'm glad you asked the question so you now know. (and happy that you do attend church and try to give what you can).

God appreciates anything you can give - if you feel you need the money more than whatever cause your church gives the money to, take it, and ignore the glares of others.
