Here is a list of negative calorie foods. What it means is that
when you eat these foods raw or in some cases slightly cooked with nothing on them
your body burns more calories digesting and processing them than what
is in the actual food itself. For a healthy weight loss and a little
boost add some of these foods to your diet each day. Most are full of
nutrients and won't weigh you down.

Fruits

apple
cranberries
grapefruit
lemon
mango
orange
pineapple
raspberries
strawberries
tangerine

Vegetables

asparagus
beet
broccoli
cabbage (green)
carrot
cauliflower
celery
Chile peppers (hot)
cucumber
dandelion
endive
garden cress
garlic
green beans
lettuce
onion
papaya
radishes
spinach
turnip

There is not one food out there, not even celery, that is negative calorie. Believe that myth if you want to, or if it is convenient for you to do so, but scientists, nutritionists and doctors all agree: there is no such thing.

Other than 100% cellulose or cardboard, that is. And water. Both are known to be no-calorie, but are not considered food as neither provides energy, in the form of calories, and cannot sustain life as if they were food.

All food, even celery, has calories, and every food you eat creates greater energy (read the word energy as: sugars) than is contained in them.

So, no matter what, if you eat a food, you will have ingested calories and created energy in greater amounts than you will or can possibly work off right away by chewing it or digesting it. If you are looking at the number of calories contained in a piece of food only, that is a false number, due to the above.

It's a fact and is incontrovertibly true: there is no such thing as negative calorie food.

However, the list given to you by the other poster is a list that people who believe in negative calories have stated are such foods. The list has been tested and proven false in scientific studies. Again, there is no such thing.

But hey, having lots of fruit, vegetbles and hi-fiber items in your diet IS good for you, and if you eat more of them than junk food, which is very hi in fat, you will lose weight if you also exercise.

So go ahead and eat them.

Just don't believe the myth about them being negative calorie foods.

None. And celery isn't either. There are 4 calories in a stalk of celery. Negative calories sounds good in theory, but it just isn't so.

No food has "negative" calories, but some are so low in calories you could almost burn them off just by eating them... like lettuce!

In the Weight Watchers program there are some foods that you can eat an unlimited amount of and not add any points to your daily allotment of food points. (Like freebies) Some of them are- lettuce, carrots, green beans, cabbage, onions, zuchinni.....

Well, I have been wondering about something here myself...I have seen several jars of dill pickles and it said O calories on the jar...I looked puzzled here for I as others on this site always thought everything had a caloric value...Hummmmmmmmmmm.
