I have a billion suggestions, but it depends on what you are interested in, such as theology, science, apologetics, historicity of Christ, reliability of the New Testament, ethics, environmentalism, history, philosophy, love, etc. Email me if interested.

If you like C.S. Lewis, you might also like Francis Schaeffer, Ravi Zacharias, and Diogenes Allen.

How about something a bit more academic and a little less symbolic imagery and mysticism. That comes second. You might get more out of them after you get the solid stuff done first. A few things to really blow your mind:
1. Stories of God: An Unauthorized Biography by John Shea
2. Jesus: A Gospel Portrait by Donald Senior
3. The Virginal Conception and Bodily Resurrection of Jesus AND A Crucified Christ in Holy Week by Raymond Brown
4. Then, if you are ready: Stages of Faith by Fowler

These are serious academic scholars, not interesting musings of the usually well-intentioned. You might get a lot more out of Lewis after this, he was very well-informed and trained. Good Luck!

The Heart of Christianity by Marcus Borg, Rescuing Christianity from Fundamentalists by Bishop Spong.

More progressive takes on the faith.

There's also a new book called Christianity for the Rest of Us by Diana Bass

I love Kathleen Norris' books "Dakota," "The Cloister Walk," and "Amazing Grace." She's a poet who writes about her struggles to reclaim, as an adult, the Christian faith with which she was raised. She's so thoughtful and honest. She shies away from using religious jargon, which really appeals to me (expect in Amazing Grace, which is actually all about religious words and how she understands them). And as a poet, she knows how to take a big idea and pick it apart, reflect on it gracefully, and really make you think about it.

Also, "Blue Like Jazz" by Donald Miller. It's subtitled something like "nonreligious thoughts on spirituality," and is his nonfiction reflections on becoming a Christian in a society where that word has got a LOT of negative associations attached to it.

(And thanks for asking this question. I plan to steal all the good ideas everyone else leaves you!)

Lee Strobel's books...The Case for Faith,Case for Christ, Case for Creator...they are very wonderful books written on an investigative side. The man started out trying to prove God wrong through Atheism...but then after speaking to infulential Christians he converted. His books bring you closer to God as you know after chapter you read that he has to exist. I would even want every Atheist to read this book and tell me what they think as well

"The Signature of God" by Grant Jeffrey. It presents proof that the bible is 100% accurate historically, geographically, archaeologically and scientifically. It also goes into mathematical codes found in the bible that no man or machine could ever duplicate. One of my favorites. Happy Reading :-)

I recommend anything by Ted Dekker, he makes you think, and obviously does his research. Frank Perreti is good, but he is a little scary for young readers.
