the actual process of putting them on doesn't hurt but like about 15 to 30 minutes later it'll strat to feel really sore and it'll probably be sore for a week.

I just got braces on January 31,07. I don't think they hurt. the only thing that kinda hurt was when I got spacers. The wire doesn't even hurt. You can't even feel it being put on. Also when I bite down it feels like my teeth are going into my gums. But I have small bottom teeth. So don't worry they didn't hurt me and I'm 11 years old. First I was all confident then i was to freaking out! But in the end I was like hey that wasn't so bad. So trust me I had them put on very recently. Good Luck!

It doesn't hurt when they're being put on; but, the next day after I got mine my lips swoll very badly. I had metel braces and they cut the inside of my lips badly. It was pretty painful for a couple days. Then every month when I'd get them adjusted there was a little discomfort for a day or so. But you can get some Butler's wax sold in the toothpaste aisle to put on the braces that cause the irritation inside your mouth. The wax helps a lot. But it's worth it to straighten your teeth. Good luck.

Two of my freinds had braces and they told me their experiences. So,when the dentist puts them on,it doesn't hurt, but when the night comes,it will hurt a lot!Unless you have something your dentist gives you so it won't be so painful,I don't about that part.
You shouldn't be freaked out, look at what will happen when you get them out,you will have pretty, straight teeth. That is all that matters,I think.
Good luck!
