Hi there,

I personally like Kikkoman products. As I recall, their teriyaki sauce is more like the consistancy of soy sauce (rather than a thick marinade), but has a nice flavour. You could marinade the wings in the sauce, then cook the wings (in the oven)... or you could simmer the sauce down a little bit (to make it thicker) then add it to your fried/baked/somehow cooked wings.

I know you do not want to buy all the ingredients to have some wings that suck, but what I often do is buy whatever teriyaki sauce (or soy sauce) is on sale and add some junk to it... Usually this means fresh ginger (it's not that expensive, and packs quite a punch) and some garlic (either freshly minced or the kind that comes minced in the glass jar). If I want them hot, I add some peppers (I once used a serrano... they were pretty powerful. I do not really recommend Jalapeño, as they are a.) bitter and b.) aren't very hot). Season the sauce to your liking... if you like garlic, go for it! If you like hot, go for it! I also throw some orange juice in the marinade if it is just plain soy sauce. If I have some sake (rice wine) laying around, I toss that in... or maybe some beer.

So yes, I do like Kikkoman. I really do not have much experience with other sauces, but don't be afraid to buy a plain sauce and doctor it up!

There are lots & lots of marinades/sauces out there (every flavor imaginable), and I haven't tried them all, but I really do like Ken's Marinades. They're from the Ken's Salad Dressing people, and they're really good.
