I will be going to Israel for the first time in less than two months. I know how to read the Biblical Hebrew alphabet (with the vowel markers), but don't know any Modern Hebrew. I am a Native English speaker and have acquired two East Asian languages and I learn languages relatively quickly. I enjoy learning languages. I know that they speak fluent English in Israel. So what are the benefits, if any, for me to learn in this short time frame.

The joy of learning the language, I guess.

Almost all Israelis speak English and most of us speak it rather fluently, so you don't have to learn Hebrew in order to communicate.

If you don't have much time to learn it properly, I suggest you to leave it and try to catch some important words and phrases.

Characters with Nikkud (vowel marks) are pretty rare in our everyday life, but the alphabet is the same alphabet and if you read the bible fluently you shouldn't have any problem.
By the way- the different Hebrews are not THAT different from one another, and if you speak one you can surly understand and speak them all. The differences between the Biblical Hebrew and the Modern Hebrew are stylistic only (order of the parts of speech and such).

No need.

I've been there over 40 times and have never bothered.
If you want to know anything ask any kid. They all learn it in school.

The other alternative is to stand on the pavement and call out, "Can anybody speak English? I need some help" and you'll find an American or Brit will approach you.

I dont understand what united states of america you're from . Im in Australia and at present went to Japan for 8 days.We were given good deal flights with jetstar. We flew into Tokyo and had 3 days there. We booked all our lodges on-line in the previous we went and placed some good deals. We offered the JR rail bypass that may merely be offered outside of Japan so so you might manage to purchase one on-line or from a commute agent. We couldn't commute on all rail amenities with it the countless subway trains we had to pay seperate yet we used it on the bullet practice to Kyoto . This change right into a good holiday and Kyoto is eye-catching ,certain temples and nature to work available. there is an section there we stuck a bus and went for a stroll to the Monkeys also we did a scenic practice holiday and walked by a village and went to an Onsen there the position change into referred to as Kurama. and the scenic rail line change into Eizen railway.I had finished this planning on the information superhighway in the previous we went. the jap are literally not very equipped for English conversing vacationers so i change into really overjoyed I had finished a great number of the paintings the position to bypass on the computing gadget so I had maps and plans with me. continuously carry a map of the inn you're staying in so in case you wander away you could element it out to someone. We did not favor a great number of money when we the position there as we had payed for our accomodation and rail value ticket we were given the 7 day rail bypass. We offered a great number of our nutrition on the food market or small grocery shop such issues as sushi or pot noodles and likewise we offered nutrition from the bakeries as we found them good and cheap even even with the actuality that we did proper off on breakfast on the lodges the countless times as we were given a more reasonable deal for breakfast so ask once you examine in. Chocolate and icecreams there are really yum and cheap yet meat is a nasty value. Then we were given the practice back and flew out from Osaka.
