I have recently purchased a new monitor (Samsung SyncMaster731B), and just yesterday I found myself staring at a vertical start menu on my desktop! I know that I certainly did not change it's location from the bottom of my desktop, but it's now vertical and I don't know how to get it back to where it was. I doubt the monitor has anything to do with it, but just in case, y'know?

Oh! I am also running Windows XP Home, sp2.

Thanks!

One of the 'features' of Windows 2000 and above is that you can move the start menu bar. Just click and drag to put it on the bottom, top, or either side of your display. Hope this helps!

Go to a place on the menu where the tabs pop up and try dragging it to the bottom. If that doesn't work right click it and go to properties and try from there. And the moniter couldn't have done it unless there was software that came with it.

The Taskbar is movable.

Click on the bar next to the word, Start, and drag the bar down to the bottom. Then, right-click on an empty spot and select "lock the taskbar." Now you can't move it or change it.

If you do ever want to change it, unlock it, then lock when finished.
