OK, so I have a dog, he's 3. We adopted him just over a week ago and he came from a bad home.

The first two days we had him (when he was the most nervous), he did GREAT with his potty training....he never went inside. But now, now that he's become more comfortable in the hosue (I guess), he won't go outside! Errr! I take him out, we walk around in circles for five minutes and then within 10 minutes of coming inside, he poops on the carpet.

I try and keep an eye on him. I literally follow him around the house to make sure I see when he's about to go so I can take him outside and he does nothing. As soon as I go to the bathroom or start making lunch, or put my child to bed or start laundry - ANYTHING, he runs upstairs and poops (and pees sometimes, but mostly just poo) in the hallway or the bedrooms.

What can I do to make him poop outside? I can't leave him out there because I don't have a fence.

We adopted a dog and he did something like that but he was peeing all over the place instead of pooping. I started crate training him and that seems to work. If I take him out and he doesn't go I will take him back in and put him in his crate until he decides he wants to go. Because with him we'd go out and he wouldn't go to the bathroom and we'd go in and within 20 minutes he went somewhere in the house. Occassionally if I'm busy and don't notice and he's really got to go some how my bf taught him to do it in the bathroom on the tile. Which is gross but easier to clean than carpet. Also where he did go we got some Odoban and something in it I guess is supposed to keep the dog from going to that spot again. You can buy it as Sam's Club and some Wal-marts. Its a concentrate and you mix it yourself and it has instructions for different things like for pets and stuff.

I don't know how often you are taking him out but i suggest 5-6 times. i had a dog with a problem like this but once he was in a routine he was fine Try to feed your dog at about the same time each day GOOD LUCK

Try to walk him longer and be consistent in the words you use like, go potty. And that someimtes helps.
