They rated boxing as the most powerful punch, muay thai as the most powerful knee.

inherently flawed.

They jocked the tkd guy who sucked.

the boxing and mt guy were the only ones with any merit.

The ninja's experiment was flawed- however I will not insult him as he has appeared on a number of forums and been nice about the whole thing and conducted himself well. It is not his fault the scientists screwed up. (watch it again, you will see why).

the weapons segment was a complete joke, instead of using the cutting champion they use the tkd fool again.

They couldn't have found a smaller chinese martial arts guy if weeman or mini-me were the CMA stylist. Not to mention he did what? forms demonstrations and the ONE INCH PUNCH! While there are proponents of short power- none will claim that it delivers more force than a regular strike where you have room.

How come the mt guy didn't do the punch or kicks?

How come rickson didn't do a goddamn thing except a 5 minuite segment to promote the show (that was the real reason they used him) have some of the others do joint locks and measure the pressure vs. his.

ridiculous.

the only thing that was of any interest was the x-ray video of how they originate the power with thier legs to strike. Which of course should be no secret to anyone taking any striking art that teaches you how to properly hit someone and generate power.

I think the show was very interesting, but not complete. They should've included practicioners of the same size. The tae kwon do guy was alot bigger than the other guys, more weight helps get a stronger blow. The boxer guys was also very big, so it's common sense he'll punch very hard. The muay thai knee was rated the strongest kick, but a knee is not a kick, it's like comparing a punch with an elbow, none of the other practicioners used knees, only kicks. The speed test was performed only by the karate, TKD and kung fu practiciners. The response time test was done only by the TKD and kung fu practicioners. the Ninjiutsu guy only did the balancing test, he didn't punch or kick and still was glorified at the end as the deadliest art.

The weapons test was very interesting, and also the brick-breaking guys, I'd hate to be hit by either of those two, but then again they hit non-moving targets.

I thought the show was entertaining and informative. I don't know that I agree with their findings because the tests weren't completely scientific. Boxers hit harder than other martial artists because they have thick gloves to protect their hands and allow them to put more power into their punches. If a boxer threw the same punch with the same amount of force without gloves, he would likely break his hand. Muay Thai knees and elbows are among the most powerful strikes in all of martial arts. The bones are much larger and the area has more density than any hand or foot.

I liked the episode where they compared a sledgehammer and a human in breaking concrete blocks.

stands to reason a boxer spends a lot of time working on his punches.
in muay thai the focus is on knees and elbows.i havn't seen what your talking about but i wouldn't imagine thier findings would help you much in a real situation.

the results were if the person was not moving and did not give on impact. now if the other person was moving you couldn't give big wind up and strike, and if you really struck a person like that the force would throw their body back reducing the impact. the only way to really get those results would be if the other person was against a wall and could not move.
