It seems that we are a confused country trying to make sense of all of the diffirent gods, race issues, languages, and life styles. It's not the blacks and jews anymore, but the spanish and mexicans as well as the 3rd world jokers now present here.I'm noticing a new breed of mixed blood showing up on COPS now. Is this what to expect for the next 50 yeears?

The problem is that there is no melting going on. What I see in the SW is Mexicans coming in saying, "Viva Mexico," waving the Mexican flag around, calling everyone racist and Nazi's and wanting to make the United States into a suburb of Mexico.

If they were "melting" and assimilating as most of our ancestors did - learning the language, taking pride in being an American, respecting citizens of their new homeland instead of bashing them - I don't think we'd have the problems we do.

We are so focused on "diversity" that we've lost track of "unity" as someone on YA pointed out. And that is true. When we focus on our differences, it creates camps of "us" and "them" which is where our troubles start.

Yes, crime is going way up. By allowing illegals to flood over the borders instead of forcing people to come legally, it prevents us from being able to screen out criminals.

Hyprocrisy cannot began to describe this question. The things we now enjoy in the United States was a result of contributions of many cultures. The Native Americans lived in North American long before the invasion of those of European descent. They even introduced Europeans certain groups and agriculture techniques. The Anglos disrespected the cultures of the Natives and killed, drove off, or force their beliefs on to them. So who are the real criminals?

The Africans, being exploited as slaves, made the production of cash crops like cotton possible for the South. The Irish immigrants, despite being Caucasian, were treated like trash and forced to live in the shantytowns because they were not recognised as Americans ("old-stock" born and raised in America). The Irish made up a large, cheap work force that made industrialization in America possible. The Germans brought people with skills in agriculture and other trades. The Chinese laborers contributed to railroad construction on the West Coast.

All these contribuations from different people are taken for granted by a lot of Americans these days. America's history never involved a single group of people. It's the fool's way out to blame others instead finding the real root of the problem like poverty that is prevalent among the minority.

Here is another way to think of it.

There were natives here when this country was founded. Some of which are likely related to the immigrants you are railing against. Europeans stole their land, the immigrants are simply taking back what was theirs in the first place. Yeah in the southwest, they may say Viva Mexico? Wasn't it once part of Mexico?

If you hate all the mixing or "melting", you can always go back to your homeland where you wont have to put up with all these brown people. (but don't count on it)

Just a thought.

Well, gang crime was up 14% in Los Angeles in 2006, and there have been three gang shootings at police officers in Los Angeles just in January...and there are areas where the Hispanic gangs have squared off against the blacks in Los Angeles, Is that what you meant?

ZH Our LEGAL immigrants have a lower incidence of crime than our general population, presumably because they are screened. Our ILLEGAL immigrants have a much higher incidence of crime than our general community, as reflected in prison and jail populations.

Thats the entire history of the US basically since its inception our country has been multilingual and multicultural. Who built the railroads, farmed the cotton every dangerous/tedious crappy job has been done by immigrants/slaves since the very beginning. Read american history and it likely you personally were one of the hated poor blooded people. Specifically Irish, polish, germans all at one time were the dirty poor.

I sure hope we don't have to expect this for the next 50 years. I'm tired of it already.
