They are wonderful pieces of cookware to have... here are some sites to visit:

but my favorite is to get a roast, put some onion, salt, pepper, garlic and a bay leaf simmer all day on low... makes a great roast
when you come home from a hard day at work it is a treat to come home to a ready made meal... you can add potatoes to the mix also.
ALSO you can clean northern beans and put them in the pot, cover with water and add either a half stick of butter or a couple pieces of bacon and cook all day on low. Come home and make
cornbread and some fried potatoes or bake some fries, this with some chilled sauerkraut and some greens.. YUM
I LOVE my CROCK pot!! :)

Just go to the grocery store, Buy a nice beef or pork roast, some potatoes, onions carrots, celery, A can of beef gravy & a couple of bay leaves.. put the roast on the bottom of pan, cut the potatoe into smaller chunks , as well as the other veggies, Turn it on low & let it cook for a good 5-7 hrs . Depending on the size of roast & size of your crockpot .

First there are hundreds of books and dozens of websites with loads of recipes for slow cookers. Plus most cookers come with basic recipes. But, the fastest way to get cooking with your cooker is to simply pick one of the dozens of pre-packaged foods available at your local grocery store. I rummaged thru them yesterday and was surprised by the variety available. There were stir fry, several stews, all veggie, meat mixes and so on - all prepackaged for the slow cooker.
Me - I like the variations on stews with potato's, gravy, carrots all sorts of vegetables, etc. I made a pot yesterday for super Sunday but it didn't make it - it was devoured and finished off this morning.
Good Luck

Or google crockpot recipes...
There are also lots of books on the subject. My favorite is "Fix it and forget it"
Look at your local library for more books.

These are my favorites right now...
Favorite Barbecue Chicken
4 to 6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 bottle (16 oz.) barbecue sauce
Put chicken into greased slow cooker. Pour bbq sauce over chicken. Cover and cook on high heat 4-6 hours or on low 8-10 hours.
(I shred mine 1 hour before serving and have shredded chicken sandwiches. To shred it you use 2 forks and pull the chicken apart...it's really tender and it practically falls apart for you. Also I have found that cooking this on low for 6-7 hours is best...the chicken dries out a little if I let it go 8-10 on low.)
---
Chicken Chili
1 (48 oz.) jar deluxe Great Northern beans
1 (4 oz.) can diced green chilies
2 (10 oz.) cans chicken breast, NOT drained
1/2 cup frozen chopped onion (or raw diced)
1 1/2 tsp. chili powder
1 cup chicken broth
Sour cream
Spray slow cooker with cooking spray
In the cooker add beans, chilies, chicken, onion, chili powder, and broth. Mix well.
Cover and cook on high 3-4 hours -OR- low for 6-9 hours
Stir 1 Tbsp. sour cream into each 1 cup serving
Yield : 9 Servings 1 cup each
---
Creamy Chicken Soft Tacos
4 frozen boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 jar (16 oz.) salsa
1 cup sour cream
6-8 flour tortillas
Place chicken in greased slow cooker. Pour salsa on top. Cover and cook on high heat 6-8 hours or on low 10-12 hours. Shred chicken by pulling apart with 2 forks. During last hour of cooking stir in sour cream.
Put chicken in tortillas with your favorite taco/burrito toppings.
(My husband and I LOVE this recipe…we have found that we needed more like 10 tortilla shells as this made A LOT of chicken…we used black beans, extra sour cream, lettuce and shredded cheese as our toppings…we made burritos instead of tacos…this is SUPER easy to make and it tastes SO good!!)
