Not a sin and as long as you don't take it too far, not punishable.. Just an expression of human pride.
Personally, though I've never questioned His motives, behavior or emotions, all of which are rooted in His love, I DO sometimes question His taste.
I think He should have stopped creating once He got kittens and butterflies. But oh no, Mr. Big just hadda have humans. Apparently Satan thought the same way.
But his response, so typically male was, "Shove over stupid and lemme show you how it oughta be done!" And we all know where THAT led.
My response is equally typically female. "You made the mess. You clean it up. You created the problem. You solve it." Which is exactly what he did. Cleanser: Salvation. Solution: Jesus.

You have read of God's emotional episodes, okay let that be a clue -- what will happen to you if you anger him?
God is in no mood to mess around. Anybody who questions God's motives better get serious real quick. You come on here asking funny questions about God, and your fate will be terrible indeed.
We have a neighbor who knows the Bible from cover to cover, and he says the wrath of God is growing day by day, not only because of frivolous questions but also because of all the perversions that are now rampant upon the Earth.

Our Father wants us to look for him. He will not punish anyone for empathising with him in his teaching. God reveals his concepts to us to feel the emotion. That is the essense of Life! which is his gift to us.
Separation from God is not preparing oneself after he has revealed his intent. Jesus taught that those who find the LORD and turn again to other ways are the ones he will punish.
Scripture is written in such a way as to allow you to empathise with the conditions presented in the story told. The Old Hebrew writing is in an art form. It uses words for their uncommonly used meanings and often uses puns to get a concept across.
Language changes with each generation. As new ideas arrive the reigning culture attaches new meaning to old words and create new words for new creations/products, etc.
Cruden's Concordance has a section that interprets proper names. One can get a sense of the original context of words and concepts used in Scripture. The word Sin is there and refers to mean branching or bush.
Sin is a separation from the concepts that God prefers us to know. By adding our own ideas to his, we change what he tells us thus the separation AKA sin. Jesus tells us it is a narrow path into life. He narrows down to just the concepts of the kingdom, its subjects, and shows how to understand it.
There is the concept of the rod cut from a tree. A rod would be a part of a branch. The candlestick on the alter has seven branches. Each represents a concept that our Father would teach us. in our innocence we add to the number of branches on that candlestick. In this we have added to and changed the message. Also we now have a bush rather than a rod; the proverbial burning bush.

I question Gods motives all the time. Just cant understand why a creator would want to create something then punish it for acting in the nature that it was created.Scarey to be at the mercy of something we have never seen or even understand.

The only true way to understanding God is by asking Him the questions, turning your back on the answers or going against his will is sinful behavior.

No...to question God out loud is not a sin. To go against God is a sin. If you are just unsure about things pray to him for reason and hopefully you will find?

No, not really.
Christians question the ways of God every day. They only thing is people need to realize that what happens to us God has no control over. We are the ones in the drivers seat.

It is absolutely unbelievable that anyone could possibly believe that God had any of the above, motives, behaviour, and emotional episodes.

You should not question God. I just got done reading the old testament(or most of it) and I too questioned it a little, but I know its wrong to question God because he knows exactly what he is doing. I think if you continue to have those thoughts, know that its the devil trying to twist your mind and ask God for forgiveness. He knows that the devil is trying to trick you, and he is an awesome God and will forgive you!
