Since your kitty is only a year old, it should be okay to introduce another one. I have had up to 6 cats and each of them was a rescue that came at a different time/age. There was a lot of stuff going on for a while, until they got the hierachy settled, but eventually, everybody got along. Mine are outside/inside so that helps, but I think just given time, a new kitty should fit in really well - maybe a kitten would be better and as somebody suggested, a male might work out better than another female.
I'd just introduce them slowly and let them figure it all out. There may be lots of hissing and stuff going on - or not. Your kitty might really like some company! I found that with other cats around, they don't need my attention quite as much.

It will take a while for the cats to like each other. It is also possible that they will never like each other. There will be lots of hissing and spitting and growling. Hopefully, after a while, they will bond. We went through two months of cat hell when we got a second cat and then they became best friends. The second cat passed away and now, five years later, we rescued another cat. We've had 6 months of hell as I write this and nothing is better. I just keep hoping....

Some cats love company, but it's less likely that a second cat will get along with the original if they're your spoiled baby kitty (like our second cat Joker. SHe HATES the kittnes we got.) It's almost a matter of luck.

If you get another cat get a male cat. As long as your female cats is fixed. There will be less fighting. With the male then with another female. But sometime two females get along just fine. Depends on the cat

Go ahead. You may want a little boy. Less fighting as she will not be threatened by a male.

my opinion is that cats do better in pairs, but since your cat is almost a year old, I would reccomend a male cat because you might have some territorial issuses.

Yes, at that age it should be fine, you would have to slowly introduce them though and give them the same attention.
