The others are generally right. The German and Italian soldiers suffered from shell shock just like we did. (That's called "post-traumatic stress disorder" now) What would be interesting is if the Japanese soldiers did not because of their belief the emperor was a god. I wonder if the Japanese were different. I sure don't know, but the German soldiers were just as bad off as the allied and even worse if they fought on the Russian front.

WW ONE they called it "shell shock" because they thought it was caused by shells going off around them.
WW TWO they called it "battle fatigue" because they thought it was caused by being overly tired from fighting too much.
George Patton called it "cowardice" and was relived of command for slapping a solder suffering from it.
Now we call it Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
If you think Germans did not get it, take a look at the faces of Germans on the Eastern Front in WW TWO.....

Who said the Krauts didn't suffer from shell-shock? Did you see "Band of Brothers", especially the episode where the war had just ended and all the disarmed Nazi's were marching back to Germany down the center of the Autobahn? Looked like a HELL of a lot of shell-shocked bastardos to ME! And I'm sure they looked a LOT sorrier in real life than they did in the movie series!

The medical care for American military is more extensive and we care about our people. The German did have cases of people who suffered shellshock, however, it was not reported that way.

Of course the Germans did. You can't be in a combat situation and not feel the effects.

I think the German army was very good.We were too but Germany might of won the war if it wasn't for Hitler being so stupid. He was the one who destroyed the German army by telling them not to fall back but to fight to the death...
