I have a set of 7 Compaq Quickrestore Recovery CD's. They are for my Presario 2100 notebook. My friend has a Toshiba 1800 series notebook. It could use a reformat. I'm wondering if this can be done. Basically clone my OS onto this other computer. Has anyone ever done this? Or can it even be done? Pros & cons?

your laptop will have a different set of drivers than the other one so it will not work properly and also it is illegal to use your copy of windows in another machine, windows will block both machines from getting the important system updates leaving both laptops more vulnerable to hackers and viruses etc

It's a very bad idea, especially when you're dealing with laptops. I mean there's nothing stopping you trying it but each restore CD has the specific drivers and application for the model of machine that it's intended for and if you try it on a completely different machine, especially one that's not even made by the same company, then the chances of it working are slim to none. And if it doesn't work then your friend will be left with a machine that's completely screwed instead of one that's just a bit slow.

nicely, you may the two purchase a sparkling restoration disc as they advised you or you may reinstall your device. i prefer to propose reinstalling the device. To reinstall the device, in basic terms put in the disc named "working device" that your workstation got here with, run the setup and stick to on-demonstrate screen intructions, it relatively is not puzzling.
