The "hole" is a term just like "the bucket" and others for an RHU Unit in prison. RHU = Restricted Housing Unit. RHU is an area for Inmates who have caused some type of disruption inside a prison. An infermery is a medical housing unit.

You probably mean "infirmary" instead of infernery, because there is no such thing. The infirmary is the prison hospital, otherwise known as "sick bay" in military brigs, stockades, or penitentiaries.
"The hole" is just slang referring to the solitary confinement facilities.
