Paul Tillich thinks that doubt is a necessary element of faith. The two things are not necessarily antithetical.

Yes, doubt has a function in faith. The Psalms are full of doubt and faith.

I'm not sure, but I do know that doubt forces you to think very hard about your faith, and consider whether or not they believe it. After all, if you realize you don't believe your faith, then that's an important step in your life. You have to think about it very hard.

Doubt is the opposite of faith. I'm not surprised that some religious people believe that two things that are opposite of each other are the same.

Doubt is the element which can drive a person to or for faith or tht evidence of faith.

It is like light and dark. Without light you would not know dark.
Without doubt you would not know faith.

God said, "Without faith it is impossible to please Him."

Satan puts the doubt into us and we must overcome our doubts.
