these doors are usually sold as 1/2 or 1 hour fire doors. longer time fire resistant doors are unusual. the door frame and lining is also important.

you must fit appropriate door furniture (hinges, handles etc.) intumescent seal (with or without smokeseal) is critical.

ask the landlord to specify the requirement. they may be able to suggest a source.

take this specification to several builders' merchants for a quote.

You cannot tell just by looking at the surface of a door if it is or not a fire door. There is normally a coloured marker on the top or bottom of a fire door usually painted ovr which indicates the rating of the door, normally either 30 or 60 minutes.Take one off the frame if you cannot find any markings. Is it very light its just a flush door, if it makes your eyes pop its a fire door.As has been suggested if you are occupying the whole house then fire doors are not needed unless it exceeds 2 floors and then I believe the doors on the upper levels opening onto the escape route have to be fire doors. As far as the othe part of the question is concerned basically if its provided it should work and if its gas it has to have an annual gas safety inspection,Not sure about the electrical requirements for landlords and some letting agents have their own minimum requirements.I believe the British Standard requires installations to have a minimum 5 yearly test.

any good builders merchant :::: there will be a small coloured ring on the edge of the door (hinge side) take note of the colour that determines the fire resistant time !!!
