Proverbs 4:20-22

My son, give attention to My Words
Incline your ear to My sayings,
do not let them depart from your eyes:
Keep them in the midst of your heart;
For they are life to those who find them,
and health to all the flesh.

Psalm 107:17
Fools because of their transgression
And because of their iniquities
were afflicted.......

A curse, without a cause, does not come.
Proverbs 26:2
"As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying,
so the curse causeless shall not come."

We don't know, but keep well in mind that quite often God doesn't have to actually cause something to happen - anything we do has a natural consequence, whether it be a good one or a bad one.
Drug abuse with negligence (not using clean works) and of promiscuity in sexual behavior carries with them the consequence of Aids.

No more than cancer, heart disease, Parkinson's disease, malaria, or measles.

A broader perspective gives you the sense that these just naturally occur, with no needed intervention from a deity.
