I had been using IAMS based on a vet and kennel recommendation but thanks to a few previously though dog food snobs thoughtful comments on a previous question I did check out the ingredients, compared prices and find that the latter is definitely much better than the former and not that much more expensive; $12 bucks more for 5lbs less but the dog is worth it.

Question: So, what is the best way to ween a dog to a new food?

As you run out of the Iams, slowly mix in the Natural Balance. Initially there should be more Iams in the mixture. Each day, change the proportions so that there is more and more Natural Balance, and less Iams. Eventually you'll run out of Iams and you'll be 100% Natural Balance.

Just buy the new bag of food, and gradually mix more of it in with the old food every couple days.. First add about 1/4 new food for a couple days, then 1/3, 1/2 and finally 100%
That way you prevent diarrhea.

PS I am glad you decided to change your dogs food, IAMS really is inferior compared to similarly priced food. Natural Balance is one of the best foods out there very good!

Start by mixing a little bit of NB into the Iams when you feed your dog, then slowly increase the proportion of NB to Iams every couple days, until it's 100% NB.

Good choice. I switched up to Natural Balance also. I believe it tells you on the bag of food in what amounts to introduce your dog to the change.
