What Lee is saying is that wisdom only comes from experience, let's say love for example. Most people you go to for advice are "wise" in the situation because they've been through the dates and the pain in the break-up. Of course, it can apply to more than just love, but you become wise through experience.
I really like this quote.

Most wise people think you attain wisdom by living, and in living there is going to be a lot of pain. Only after you have suffered through tragedies of life will you become wise in knowing how to cope when something bad happens. Lets face it life is easy until problems occur.....and then its how you handle your problems that makes you wise or stupid.
