Question on taking medince for anxiety.?
I have been on Zoloft for 3 months now. And still no help with my anxiety. Last night I was at a get together with my mother and some of her coworkers. All day before the actuall get together, I was experiencing anxiety and nausea. I managed to go, but it got so bad I was shaking, hot, nausea and actually started throwing up 10mins after I was there and had to leave. Im going back to my doctor to talk about this. Knowing I need something for my anxiety, I was wondering if there was something in particular I should ask for. Something that would help me when I have an anxiety attacks. Will relax me and make me more comfortable? Thanks for any help.

I have alot of experience with anxiety due to having OCD so I know how you feel. I don't really so much as have panic attacks. I get ongoing periods of anxiety. I have tried alot of those meds which act like antidepressants/antianxiety drugs. I didn't have any luck with those. I tried Zoloft like you and didn't benefit.

I would recommend a medication that has a more sedating effect like Xanax. You can let your doctor know that you have been doing research online for anxiety medications and ask her if you can at least try it and see if it helps. I have gotten anxiety so bad I practically climbed the walls, had crying spells, chest pains and asthma attacks so I understand. Try to get Xanax. I hope you get the help you need.

Although Zoloft has some anti-anxiety properties it is more for depression. Lexapro is the best antianxiety agent on the market right now but takes a while to work. You can ask for something to help when you do have anxiety/panic attacks like Xanax but it will make you really sleepy and has a tendency to be habit forming.

OK what you need is a drug in the benzodiazapine drug class this would be a xanax ativan valium the trouble with asking directly for these meds is that they are abused very badly and sold on the streets all the time that is why I said to try and stick with your symptoms the other med I have seen used for anxiety attacks is low doses of seroquel which is an atypical antipsychotic but the side effects of it make it effective for anxiety usage I didnt mean to come off as sounding like you were looking for drugs its just that these meds R so highly abused K

Zoloft is more for depression than anxiety. I had a problem with social anxiety for many years. My doctor perscribed Xanax and it really helped. The only down side is that it can make you sleepy. But you should definitely ask your doctor about it. Xanax is much better for anxiety than Zoloft.

I was given Lamictal for this to take everyday. Most people have good luck with this, but it took me so far down that I became depressed (with no previous history of depression). And had the puking and shaking, too. But, after tinkering around with my dosage I feel better with the anxiety, but a little robotic. Just my experience in case your doc mentions this med.

That's something to see your doc about. Zoloft is for depression. You probably need something to calm you down a bit. They prescribed me Vistaril which is an antihistamine that is used as a sleeping inducer. If you use a smaller dose, it mellows you out. It's similar to clonipin.

Cymbalta works on two chemicals in the brain. It might be better than Zoloft.
