Hopefully, most of us realize already that traditional belief in God and religion do in fact have a pertinent role in reality. To deny it's role in reality is to deny the history and culture of every society on earth. Religion and belief in God predates the written word. And I have no doubt that it will continue for many years to come. THAT is reality.

To answer the second part of your question...I don't believe that religions takes away our "experience", but it does offer a mode of allowing people to let others do their thinking for them. Religion and belief in God are not the enemy of rational thinking unless you allow them to be by not continuously striving to find the truth...regardless of where that truth lies.

Religion is here to guide people. I'm astray because I know better, but everyone won't believe everyone else. There's always going to be a dispute, and that's a situation that I like to avoid.
