how do i make my barbeque sauce thicker? can I add flour?

The only real way to thicken it is to put it on the stove and simmer it to cook some of the water out, the result is a smoother, tastier sauce. Adding cornstarch, flour or whatever gives the sauce the consistency of glue.

Add corn starch or ground arrow root.

Whichever you use, mix it with some water first, blend it into a paste that's already lump free. Use JUST enough water to make a paste out of the corn starch.

Add it and stir.

The heat will "set" the starch and result in a thicker sauce.

Flour won't work nearly as well.
