I don't know about ideal but I prefer my boyfriend's to be two to three years older than me. I'm 21 and I like them to be 23 or 24 and out of college. I'm just finishing college now, so I'm thinking towards the future, and that age range seems to give them the time to mature a little bit and become established in their own lives well enough for them to want to bring someone else into it.

Five years... either way. The guy is usually older, but the girl can be older, too. As people get older, that age gap seems to widen. It's not unusual for a 35 year old woman to be with a 45 year old man. I guess it is because both have more life experiences and expectations may be different.

Since boys mature emotionally slower than girls I'd say in the twenties men three years older in the thirties 2 years older but after that it's pretty much equal.
