I'm female and would often wet the bed until I was about 11 or 12. I would often dream that I was at the toilet just before I wet the bed. I can't remember any treatment I received, I just seemed to stop doing it. My son also had the problem and because I knew how bad I had felt I could quite understand how he felt. I tried limiting his drinks, but to no avail. I tried an audible alarm which triggered if any water went on the mesh, he would sleep right through it.
I found the only way to help was to take him to the toilet every three or four hours. He would be able to walk to the toilet even though he was asleep. With a bit of encouragement he would go to the toilet, go back to bed and the next morning he didn't even know he'd been gotten up. I know this seems very tiresome, but the look on his face in the morning when he had a dry bed was worth all the effort. I must add that it didn't work 100% of the time.
I think the reason he had this problem was that his sleep pattern was just too deep. He was a very active child and would literally exhaust himself throughout the day. Consequently, when he went to sleep he was just dead to the world.
I know you must feel upset and frustrated, but believe me there doesn't always have to be a medical solution, although, I do advise you to check that one out anyway. Sometimes it just needs patience, broken sleep and understanding. Remember, he will probably feel worse than you because he will be frightened to sleep over at any friend's house or that any of his friends find out about his problem.
I wish you and your son good luck and hope you don't have to persevere too long.

Bedwetting is a common problem in boys. His bladder is still growing and it isn't quite the size needed for his body. You can go to a doctor and try to get medication for him but in a lot of cases it doesn't work. While it is annoying, remember this is normal. He might even regularly wet his bed until his early teens. I suggest either an adult diaper for him or get a plastic matress cover and lots of extra sheets.
Also, record what time at night he is wetting his bed. It might be that he is doing it around the same time. Perhaps it is even right before he normally wakes up. Put him to bed at the same time every night and wake him up at he same time everyday (even weekends.) Make sure he is getting about 10 hours of sleep. Then, wake him up during the night for about a week at the time he normally wets the bed and make him use the restroom. After a week, he will likely begin getting up on his own to use the restroom.

Get him checked by doctor if you are doing everything and he is still wetting the bed and he shouldn't be it could be an underlining problem ,To many doctors just give kids the brush off saying its one of those things but my brother had a small bladder and as he grew older was embarrassedto see the doctors, when he was a kid they were telling my mum to do star charts when he was dry etc,it took him till he was 22 to build up courage and go to Dr he had smaller than normal bladder and needed an operation .
I tell everyone this who has kids that wet the bed because there can be a genuine reason for it happening.

Its a shame that he has to go through that, but he will grow out of it. I myself wet the bed until I was 8 yrs old. Is he worried about anything. Dont make him feel bad about it, say never mind try again tomorrow, and give him a star or treat when he dosent do it. Rest assured it wont go on forever, all kids are different,

I wet the bed until I was about 5. I used to dream I was on the toilet. It just seemed so real.
My parents tried an alarm mattress cover but that just scared the life out of me and anyway it had to be wet for the alarm to go off.
You need to find out what dreams he is having, just before he wets the bed and explain that they aren't real and hopefully he should start waking himself up to go to the loo.
Good luck.

it could be that your child's body is growing faster than his bladder can keep up with. this is normal in some kids and will eventually correct itsself. i wouldn't worry about it too much but to keep from embarrassing him especially if he has friends overnight and if you don't have the time to change the sheets each day, i would get him some goodnites by pampers or something of that nature to help him out with this just until it subsides. hope this helps. good luck.
