I know that if you swallow like a piece of eggshell, it is really bad, but what about hair, and what exactly happens to your stomach when you swallow a piece of eggshell?

When you swallow hair, if it's not broken down by the strong acids in your stomach, then it'll just pass through in your poop. As far as eggshells, that'll just pass through as well.

I'm not a doctor or anything, but common sense tells me that the egg shell is hard and may punture your insides....the hair on the other hand, as long as you are not eating it for a meal so to speak, should not hurt you. It will pass, if you know what I mean. If you are someone who chews on their hair and consume a large amount over time, it could make a 'hair ball' in your stomach and may require medical attention.

Your body will digest the hair. It doesn't cause any problems. As for eggshell, if it's a teeny piece that made it into a cake or something, that's really no big deal either. Obviously if it were a bigger piece with sharp edges, it could potentially cause an injury to the GI tract. But this is still unlikely.

The hair will pass through you and will come out of you exactly the way it came in. It will not be broken down.

swallowing eggshell isn't bad it is made of calcium Der Der Der and a hair being made of the same thing as your finger nails passes through uless you eat what comes out of your hair brush everyday that will knot up and over time will kill you as a hairball and when removed will look like a dead drowned rat

Swallowing a hair or an eggshell is no big deal..... If it is not digested, it will mix with the feces and pass out of the body as you defecate.

i watched Ripley's Believe it or Not before and there was this girl who was fond of eating her hair. she had stomachache and doctors had to perform surgery and they were able to get a ball of hairs inside the girl's stomach. as in, yuck! with eggshell, i don't know. most probably, it'll be just digested like any other food.

If I remember correctly egg shell is nothing more than calcium carbonate or something like that,, similar to what you get in the health food stores (GNC)

Hair is made of protein, the stomach will digest hair in the same way as any protein
