It doesn't sound ridiculous to me; plenty of people take a while to find their true vocation in life. (My Grandfather used to say, at the age of ninety, that he didn't know what he wanted to be when he grew up, so you've got one up on him!)
Bear in mind, as well, that having specialised knowledge in other areas could be very useful to a translator... for insance, I'm sure there are lots of occasions when legal documents have to be translated?
Hope this helps, and best of luck with your ambitions.

My mom always told me i would be a good lawyer but i want to become a translator too. Languages are just my passion. I dont think its ridiculous at all. I do what makes ME happy not what makes my mom or my wallet happy.

Finish your degree in law first so that if the translator thing doesn't suit you or doesn't work out you always have that degree to fall back on.

No. You could combine the two and be a translator of legal documents. This is a much needed service, as legal documents have a language all their own.

Not at all. I put aside my law training to return to acting, and I've found it a very sensible choice.

Ridiculous would be passing up your dream to do what you're 'supposed' to do. Have fun and be happy!
