Atheism is the lack of god(s) and goddesses. Paganism is the exact opposite. I don't see how non-theists get mixed up with the theists

For the most part, Pagans believe in a Higher Power (though what form and function that Higher Power takes varies from tradition to tradition, and individual to individual). It's incorrect to call most Pagans "Atheist".

There is a misconception out there that Wiccans (in specific, though it's likely other Pagan religions have encountered this as well) "worship the creation and not the creator". That's not the case - we recognize the spark of the God and Goddess in the animals and plants and earth around us... but that doesn't mean that we believe they ARE the entirety of the God/dess.

I haven't heard anyone calling me an atheist, and I'm a pagan. Perhaps it's because we get along so well with atheists on here and/or we agree with a lot of their statements.. (for example, evolution).
We do believe in gods (some pagans are pantheistic rather than polytheistic) and are nature-based in our beliefs. There are those who call themselves atheist/pagans, and while that sounds like a contradiction in terms, who am I or anyone to tell someone what to believe or call themselves?

IGNORANCE!!!
No, many of them choose their own favorite God and Goddess to work with during rituals.

Atheism is the total absence of a belief in any Deity.

Christianity and many other religious belief systems believe in one God or lump their belief in a Trinity into one God. This is called monotheism.

Polytheism is a belief in many Gods and Goddesses.

Pantheism takes a particular group of Gods and Goddesses from ancient religions.

Many pantheists and polytheists also believe in the use of Nature as God and Goddess.

Personally, I believe the Universal Energy comes in many forms and can be found in almost anything.

It depends on the pagan.

Some believe in many gods, some believe in two, some believe in one and some do not believe in any.

I am an atheist pagan. I try to honor nature and keep to the old ways, but I believe that the Goddess and God are merely personifications of natural phenomenon, not actual spiritual beings.

Others are free to believe what they like of course.

They get lumnped in with atheists and agnostics bercause:

Christians can't imagine that Pagans really believe what they believe.
Pagans and atheists often have coinciding interests.
Christians can't stand the idea of any religion that disregards their sky daddy.

i think of it extremely is using fact Pagans do not bypass around attempting to assert their concept is the only authentic concept. we don't attempt to transform and generally we don't communicate it in mixed corporation until eventually asked. i've got in no way had an Atheist call me out on mine the two. although i be responsive to of a few that think of any concept in such issues is ridiculous, they don't communicate all the way down to me. i assume it extremely is using fact i attempt to verify it from their factor... and that i can assert "i don't be responsive to" whilst immediately asked approximately something i in my opinion can not answer.

Certainly not.

I get very offended at having the superstitious oddballs that call themselves Pagans lumped in with atheists.

They are NOT atheist.

They do believe in gods and goddesses. They aren't atheists at all. Whoever said that was very mistaken.

They do. Paganism and atheism have nothing to do with one another.
