I had it on my laptop last week, then I was no longer able to view my favorite online tv shows, so I tried to download the newest available flash player 9 from macromedia.com. It says 9 items to download, then when it starts downloading it only downloads 4 items. When finished, an error message pops up saying "Safari cannot find internet plug in. The page "Macromedia-Flash Player" has content of MIME type "application x/shockwave-flash" but you don't have a plug in installed for this MIME type. A plug in should be available on this page:" which takes me right back to the page where I downloaded the flash player in the first place.
Why can't I download this? What do I need to do ?

I did use the intel version of flash player and also tried to download it with Firefox. Same thing. It actually does download, but I get the same message with it taking me right back to the browser with the same error message. I don't know what else to try.

Did you download the version for your processor type? There are two versions of flash player, one for Intel based Macs, and another for PowerPC Macs. I think Macbooks are Intel based now, so you should try that one. If that doesn't work then I really don't have that much to contribute with Safari, since I don't use it that much, but I would recommend switching to Firefox, and doing the same procedure that you mentioned. I updated Flash Player with it, following the same procedure, and it's been smooth sailing since.
