i want to buy an interrailing ticket but have been told it needs to be bought in country of residence... this would mean i would have to return to dublin to purchase ticket?? anyone know if any of this is true... i want to buy ticket over internet if possible..thanks..

Yes it has to be bought in your home country. Otherwise you have to get the equivalent in the country where you are now.
