In the winter, people tend to shower with hotter water, which dries out the skin in combination with the dry air. The best thing to do for this is to shower less often. It's better for your hair too!

Otherwise, there are moisturizing conditioners and leave-in treatments available in lots of places. Personally, I use Lush products - all natural so they don't contain any drying agents.

If it is dandruff, you have to use a medicated shampoo, prescribed by a doctor. It is dry scalp only, use coconut oil after you have cleaned your hair with a shampoo, rinsed it well and dried it. (Rinsing your hair thoroughly after a shampoo is very important, because part of the dried shampoo stuck at the roots of hair is quite harmful). Sometimes coconut oil mixed with a little camphor acts efficiently to remove dandruff. Coconut oil with Neem extract is probably the best remedy, but it is not available everywhere.

Look for a coal tar shampoo. I'm serious. Nuetragena makes one and Suave offers a generic version. Suave works okay but the brand name is better. Use every day for a week then you can most likely drop to twice a week.

Instead of using dandruff shampoo (like most) you need to get a MOISTURIZING shampoo. Wash your hair, rinse and repeat.
