This is a messy situation, it all goes back a few years ago when i dated my brothers best friend for a few years,we lived together and i caught him cheating so i left him,it has been over a year since and he still is trying to get me back.About 8 months after it had happened I ran into this guy who is mutual friends with both my brother and x,he listened to me and was so sweet,he drove me home that night and i invited him to stay,i asked him to sleep in the bed with me,he did,i asked him to put his arm around me,he did till i slept, such a gentlman.he called my brother a couple days after to apologize and swore that nothing more had happened, and that he did not make any moves. Why did he call him,I feel like i was a mistake to him.

He clearly values his friendship with your brother and doesn't want to jeopardize it.

This is also a common tactic for "feeling out" how your brother feels about the idea of the mutual friend (We''ll call him Tom) dating you. By being up front and apologetic, he opens the door for your brother to say it's OK for Tom to date you. He also opens the door for your brother to say it's NOT OK for Tom to date you without damaging their friendship.

It may have been a coded way of him saying "Hey, I want to date your sister, is that OK with you?"

If you're interested in Tom, talk to your brother and find out if he's cool with the idea.

If your brother knows of some skeletons in Tom's closet, he might say he's NOT OK with the two of you dating and not tell you why, because he doesn't want to violate the trust between him and Tom.

Sorry about the jerk cheating on you. This other one sounds like a good guy though. See if you can chat him up (if you're interested), and spend more time with him.

In answer to your question - men have this bond that they aren't supposed to hit on their siblings, or their exes'. He may have felt he did just that and crossed that line, so with respect to your brother - he called.

Men have an unwritten code that is rarely broken.

Part of that code is not going after your mates girlfriend, ex or prospecive girl.

He wanted to make it clear that he wasn't breaking the code.

I guess your brother's friendship means alot to him. You know how it is with guys not liking their mates to hook up with their sister! I think he s an honest lad to be honest and apologetic to your bro. He s a respectful gentleman, he sounds really lovely. Dont feel ya a mistake to him, I dont think thats what he meant. :)

your brother probably just wanted to protect you, so he just made sure that all his friends would call if they slept with you or something like that.

He may be feeling quilty, and didn't want your brother to get mad at him.

because its just WRONG to date a friends sibling. let alone the fact that he is friends with ur ex which makes doing anything with you double wrong.
