Since the atmosphere is warming up due to global warming, that means that more water molecules gain enough energy to evaporate and leave the surface of the water, right?... So there SHOULDNT be a rise in the water level...?

Oh my solution is that is there anyway the ozone layer or the atmosphere could be extended or made larger? So that the atmosphere is less dense with co2?...

AND.. this might sound crazy but I think it might work.. you know how when you lick an icelolly, the saliva on the ice-lolly freezes? Does that ever happen with you?.. Well couldnt they pour VAST amounts of water back into the centres of polar ice caps to re-freeze the water? That way the water level wont be a problem anymore?

Yes, warmer air holds more water from evaporation. But the amount of water melting off glaciers far, far exceeds the extra amount of water vapor that the warmer air can hold.

Currently the amount of water being lost from glaciers every year is greater than the volume of Lake Erie. We simply don't have the technology to pump that much water anywhere, much less in the arctic.

I think that the biggest problem with global warming, has much to do with the melting of the polar caps. Since snow is white, and white is a reflective surface, heat tends to shoot back into the atmosphere. On the other hand the water around the caps is very dark, and absorbs the heat. The less Ice we have, the more heat goes into the water and heats the ice which melts in a vicious cycle. Personally I think we should take a count of all the heavy boats we dont use anymore and situate them around parts of the antarctic in groups of 3 or 4. After that, (say the boats are each 100 yards apart in a grid), rig up a kind of Bright white porous sheet, that allows maybe 40% of the light to get through to the ocean. Reflecting 60% back into the atmosphere. At the same time you could fit the rigs with some kind of renewable energy, like underwater turbines, and with this power, Hook up snow machines(like on ski mountains) that suck up water from beneath the boat, and constantly blast snow against the sides of the icebergs. All one would need to do is somehow anchor the boats in place. But I think white blankets in many parts of the world could help reduce heat. Think about deserts, or building tops. coat the tops of each building with a white layer that gets routinely cleaned with a hose, and we could send so much heat back up into space, effectively cooling the world so that 1 foot of rising water every fifteen years turns into 1 foot every 40 years.

its good to see you are thinking, I wish more people would do something like that once and awhile.

Unfortunately I have my doubts as to whether your ideas would work.

1. if (when) the Earth warms up, there may be more cloudcover and more rainfall, but the amount of water held in the atmosphere in the form of water vapor is extremely small in comparison the the amount melting from the poles and glaciers.

2. I don't think we can increase the size of the Ozone layer, even if we did, it would likely have negative adverse effects that could be even worse for us.

3. if you put water on ice, it doesn't refreeze the water, it actually melts more ice, so you end up with more water. It might work to freeze very small very thin layers of water (the saliva) but try taking a bowl of ice cubes and adding a cup of water...you will end up with more than one cup of water at the bottom.

The best solutions Ive promoted are reducing driving, increasing fuel efficiency and renewable energy - (Get those big trucks and SUVS off the roads!) and to support FORESTS and planting trees to make more FORESTS since they help to cool the Earth and reduce greenhouse gases.

thanks for your thoughts and keep brainstorming cause we will need a miracle solution.

You have put a lot of thought into your ideas! I wonder if the excess water could be piped into desert areas.
However, what I wonder most is what the politicians who carry on about global warming are actually doing themselves. Are they driving flex fuel vehicles? Using solar power in their homes? Planting trees? Using alternative energy? Because if they are not, then I don't want to hear them yap.

That was a good try but it will not work. You have got the answers from other participants I am sure so not goin deep.
