I have a seizure disorder. Only have had 1 major seizure where I passed out. But did come through quite quickly. But recently I will feel a little strange and then it will pass. Almost like I am remembering something from a long time ago. Then afterwards...I feel really weak and tired. Has anyone ever had this experience before? I am 35, had the only seizure 1 year ago but my EEG's have been abnormal on my left side. I am currently taking Keppra which isn't really bad. I have had worse. They feel that I need to be on something due to the abnormal EEG's. Anyone else with these symptoms? Thanks!

wow hun - it sounds like you might be having parital seizures, like petit mal or absence seizures... you really need to see a doc. i have worked with ppl suffering a variety of seizures, and have had a couple myself while pregnant.

Simple partial seizures may cause unusual feelings or sensations that can take many forms, such as sudden, unexplained feelings of joy, anger, sadness, or nausea. It's not uncommon to hear, smell, taste, see, or feel things that are not real. During simple partial seizures, you may remain alert and aware.

Does your seizure disorder have a name? Because Keppra is used for epilepsy. I know, because I've had epilepsy from birth, and also take Keppra.

Now, as for the strange feelings you get: they are called 'auras', and often occur prior to a seizure. It's possible you are having waking seizures and don't even know it. A waking seizure occurs while the person is awake, obviously, but the symptoms are very subtle. Only someone familiar with them would even know a seizure is occurring. Symptoms include staring into space blankly for seconds to minutes, being unresponsive to people around you, and not remembering the event afterwards. A friend of mine in college had this type of seizure quite often. One moment he'd be talking to me, the next, staring blankly into space, then he'd blink, and start talking right where he left off, as if no time had passed.

You MAY be suffering these type of petite seizures without realizing it -- it would explain your being weak and tired as well. Anytime the electrical circuits in your brain misfire, a seizure results... and the result is what I call a brain drain. It totally wipes you out, leaving you weak, and tired.

Those are called "starring spells". They are small interuptions in the wiring in your brain. My son suffered with this following his one big seizure, tell your doc about it, you will probably need more meds to control this. It is important to take care of this because you could be driving and have this occur and not be able to bring yourself out, causing damage to yourself and others. Good luck.
