do they look the same??

i bought a bunch out of the shell but it doesn't say whether they are raw or roasted

Their color. I'm not sure you will even find them roasted. Roasted will be brown and raw will be white.

I think pine nuts usually come raw.

taste one, the toasted ones will taste toasted, whereas the raw ones will be a little softer, also raw pine nuts are very pale

Raw ones are very pale, almost oily. Toasted ones are browner and have a nuttier taste.
