Great Question...Christians think if someone reads the Bible, they will be instantly taken in (if they are good people) and only the bad people will be turned away by the improbability and lack of substantual facts.

If christians want people to read the bible to become well rounded individuals, they need to read Richard Dawkins and other literature to make themselves well rounded as well. However, thinking is against the law in Christians circles, if you think, you could lose faith and faith in ignorance is sacred. Richard Dawkins makes people think. Thinking and using the mind is satanic, don't cha know?

I'm really hoping christians will become less fearful of their own minds and study healthy reasoning. Its past time the entire human population come out of the dark ages already!!!

I've read a little Dawkins he reminds me of Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson. A reactionary extremist who uses words to twist people's thinking.

If you're such an ATHEIST why does he make an impression on you. Did you touch a spiritual vein in you. Did he give some some religious REVELATION. Did he convert you and make you think he's Jesus or Moses or something.

Would strike me he shouldn't have said anything you didn't already know or IS THERE SOMETHING TO KNOW ABOUT that makes you an ATHEIST.

Is there a GOLDEN WORD

A Scripture

Did Dawkins provide you with "the word!"

Is HE your prophet!

I thought atheists didn't need a guide or guide book or set of instructions.

They are supposed to be free thinkers who, apparently, know it all. Why, therefore, is there a need for a Dawkins.

Why does the religion and philosophy of Atheism need to be expalined and have a book.

Belief in SOMETHING needs tools like books, prophets, guides so you can learn.

Dis-belief is easy. You simply don't believe.

My God, you mean there are RULES to this system of disbelief!

I especially like how Dawkins is applying for a 501(c) status to create a "charitable" foundation.

I suppose it will have a building (church) and leadership (Pope, Bishops and Cardinals) and I suppose they all have nice clthoes and cars to drive (the Pope mobile).

I wonder if he'll become as big and fancy as Dr. Robert Schuler's Crystal Cathedral in Orange County or Billy Graham's organziation that once produced motion picture films from a huge facility in Burbank called World Wide Pictures. I wonder if he'll start a University like Oral Roberts and Pat Robertson did!

Yes, and they said what L. Ron Hubbard did with Dianetics couldn't be done a second time!

Ive examine the bible many situations, from commence to end. i need to say even with the actuality that it would not make me sense a connection with God/Jesus/Jehovah so i wager I examine it devoid of concept in it, even even with the actuality that initially as i change into christened a RC it change into an invaluable "device" to diminish back up RE classes. Now i'm older and wiser i will work out that extracts that were used were taken out of context, yet I nevertheless do not understand the way absolutely everyone ought to worship a guy that change into portion of a international the position toddlers were killed and different issues alongside with genocide , treachery, etc.... Why praise someone like that? we do not praise the Al Queida can we?

There is a difference between the Bible and a Sam Harris or Richard Dawkins. One must involve the Holy Spirit to understand the Bible. If you read it and don't believe, you haven't read it through the Spirit. You need to ask God to help you understand the Bible.

I have not and I will not. I don't ask an atheist to read the Bible so why would you ask a Christian to read these books?

We are all on our own journey. We make our decisions and arrive at conclusions. This is a very personal thing. If you are happy with your decisions then so be it. I am perfectly content with mine.

As a fellow atheist, I can tell you that I enjoy both as writers, though I think Sam gets a little overly enthusiastic in his campaign for legalizing all recreational personal drug use.
