hello, i am interested in joining the air force reserve and i was wondering if you deploy/travel to other countries or places other than the middle of course. i am one who loves to travel and i'd like to hear from all the people who have went overseas to europe, asia, etc., while in the reserves.

Not always the case but Yes, today the Guard is being used through out the world. The Air Guard from Fort Smith Ar. has been in Iraq twice. This has become a normal occurrence through out the National Guard. We don't have enough regular Mil. to cover all. If I were you, I would join the regular AF. I realize it's a four year active and two year inactive commitment, but you will be much better trained and able to perform your job.

You do if your unit gets called up. But your chances of being deployed in the Air Force Reserve would be minimal right now, since the need is for combat troops and the AF doesn't have any infantry.

Yep, you pull yearly training tours in various places and you will deploy if you're in one of the "buckets" to go, unless they deploy an entire unit. You'll have all kinds of chances, all you have to do is volunteer. I never deployed as AFRES because I went back into active duty after 9/11 but I worked with lots of units, when I was stationed in Spain, that came over to us for their annual training.

Sure, you'll deploy. I don't think you guys deploy as long as we do. If I'm not mistaken, you guys deploy in 3 to 6 month rotations instead of the 12 to 15 months we do.
You'll enjoy it.
