I'm sorry to read your having problems with this as such a young age. I wish there was more I could do for you. Depression can happen to anyone at any age but the good thing is that it's OK to seek help! I can say that if there is something or someone that is making to feel this way then you need to find a way to get rid of that. I can also say that if you are truly depressed it wont get better by itself you may need to see a doctor, it is nothing to be ashamed of. I know that it is scary and you may feel alone but your not. sometimes it is easier to talk to someone that is not a Friend or family member so what could it hurt to see a counsel in your school. They keep it confidential and they can help you. there are also support groups on the net that can also help.
I hope I helped a little if you want you can mail me and that may help just to talk to someone!!
Good Luck

Depression is very serious! If affects people of all ages and sex. Because of the seriousness and risks associated with depression, it would be a good idea to talk to someone about it. If you can't talk to your parents, talk to a guidance counselor. The best course of action would be to see a professional. No one has to know about it but you and your parents and I'm sure that if you share your problems with your mom or dad they will be very supportive. It may not even be depression! It could just be your hormones! You are young and your growing and developing everyday! Don't jepordize your life! Talk to someone and get help! You will be very happy and relieved that you did. Plus, talking to a therapist or a psychiatrist is very refreshing. You can talk to someone who has an outside point of veiw and can give you some fresh ideas on how to deal!

Crazy and bad thoughts are not depression. Do some reading on symptoms of depression out on the web. You sound like a normal teen right now but if you are having problems you want help with then talk to your school counselor or your minister.

Any age, this is not just a teen or adult problem. I read of a 5 year old that ran his bike in front of a truck on purpose because he was so miserable and nobody believed a child that young could be depressed. He told several people about his 'plan' and nobody listened. Get help, medication may be needed for the short term treatment and you may be one of those people that needs meds for the rest of your life. LIfe is worth living, get help.

It can start at any age and last until any age- you should talk to someone you can trust and will help you. Don't forget you are going into your teenage years and there will be times when you will feel alone with no one to talk to etc- that's normal!! You're not alone- a lot of people feel this way- try to get help and shrink can help you!!! good luck!!

Depression is a complicated thing. We feel alone when we are depressed and feel like there is no one to talk to.
I have felt depressed.
I would guess that you could start having depression at age 10.
At age 10, you would at least understand what depression is.
So, I think you are old enough to have depression.

Depression can start early in childhood. Unfortunately alot of things can trigger it. It is usually a combination of biology and environmental factors. Since you are 12, you are probably experiencing hormonal changes which will definitely affect your moods especially if you are genetically prone to being depressed. I would suggest you speak to your school's guidance counselor if you don't feel comfortable talking to your parents...

What is it with this "depression" crap? Go on with your life. Peiople use it as an excuse to stay in bed for 5 or 6 years. You know from 1st to 12th grade, I was picked on at school and home for being handicapped, missed only 7 days of school during that time. I wasn't accepted due to disabilities that I have had since I was born: visual impairment, learning disability and epilepsy. My sisiter, father and classmated were picking on me. My father and sister have done their best to try to make me feel less than for 30 years just because they, college grads, do. Each is mad because they didn't succeed and expect me to want them in my life. I cut them out in the '80's.
Despite my LD, I improved on the clarinet and when I finished high school, I got better at social skills, history and typing. I had made straigh D's on history and typing. I even improved on punction which wasn't my forte either. After years of being the slowest in my class, I am mistake for an A student. I finished high school, in '87, with a 1.4.
I want to go into computers, didn't make it in college, but am still ltrying. Employers and teachers are so impatient.
My sister, in contrast, is lazy and ungrateful. She spent are childhood in the land of narcissism. She still has no remorse nor sense or responsibility. She actually feels that she got the short end of the stick and for 27 years has fought for out father's attention. Til this day, she's mad because she feels that she doesn't measure up. I don't want a relationhsip with my superficial old man, but he wants one with me and is upset because I wont recipocate.

I think when you start 6th-12th grade it might start to kick in,
when you are in your 20's that can start the suicidal age if its not fixed when you are in your 30's the chances you'll kill your self would be a 75% chance i am not kidding.
