Read the small print up there. It's religion, not religious. There actually is a difference.

As someone who was raised in religion, practiced fervently, and attended seminary before my path took me elsewhere, I heartily enjoy the community of atheists here. Where else can you find so many people who know so much about religion without getting swallowed up by it?

Why shouldn't we be? Yahoo says anyone may ask and answer questions in ay section. And you might want to try looking carefully at the title at the top of this page. It says Religion AND spirituality, not religion. And most definitely it does not Say "Christianity."

The vast majority of atheists were raised as believers. But we learned to think for ourselves.

In my experience they just want to mouth off the Christians because they tend to get too forceful with the missionary stuff, that is try to force their religion, particularly their sect down everybody elses throats. Im a christian and i am ashamed that other christians do this.

Just because I'm atheist, I'm also Buddhist and I've also studied various religions in so much detail and analytical depth I can still answer questions for others.

Because we want to. It's an open forum, and this isn't the 'Christians' or 'believers' section. Why do so many god-believers want to force everyone in the country to abide by their version of morality by shoving it down everyone's throat via legislation?

Wow what a good question, I doubt this has ever been asked before.

1) Voice of reason
2) impartial in terms of contradictory religions
3) Think rationally - dont accept arguments from authority and tend to know the holy books better than religious people.
4) they know 'if we came from monkeys why are there still monkeys' and are always available to answer that and other questions directed at them -

Like yours, for example.

*If there were an alcohol section - do you think you'd have to be drunk to post there? See what I'm getting at?*

Q: "obviously there is no evolution because of [IGNORANT STATEMENT]"
A: "yeah, I know, because [IGNORANT STATEMENT]"
and bam! best answer.

It would get boring.

I really feel they are here by appointment. God wants us as believers to pray for them. We, as believers in Christ Jesus must call these people out to Him in our prayers. I pray daily for all these people in the Y ask, answer and discover area. I feel this is why we all are here. So to all believers...call these unbelievers out today in your prayers. We must take them upon our hearts. I am praying for everyone here.
In Christ
