According to the Bible we should "be fruitful and multiply". In a world that is far to overpopulated with human beings who are wrecking the planet that is very bad advice.

It isn't "god" who makes natural disasters...it is the law of nature. Survival of the fittest in the long haul. Yes, nature has a way of balancing itself when overpopulation of any species is overwhelming. We continue to evolve. The only constant is change.

No to the first.

It is so easy to relinquish responsibility and blame a god or gods, that way we don't have to! But we must remember that it is we who cause wars and the state of the world in which we now live.

We cannot expect to develop further in our society if we keep to the idea that ignorance is a virtue.

"Be fruitful and multiply", here is question for those who deem condoms to be 'bad'. How can a country say they will give support to another's battle against HIV and AIDS, but only if they agree not educate people about safe sex and support abstinence?

Is that a realistic way to stop the spread of the disease? Especially in developing countries?

'God' is the way some people choose to explain natural disasters and a tool that others exploit to rally the forces for war.

If we're truly civilized, shouldn't we take responsibility for our actions? We're actually in a position where we can cause natural disasters. And for all the rest, they often cause far more damage than need be, simply because we keep insisting on building on flood plains, right on the ocean front, altering rivers, etc.

This is one issue where I'm happy to attribute it to God -- that does seem to be the way to motivate large segments of the U.S. population.

I think that the Gods created a situation where Nature randomly spews out horrible events. The result IS population control, but it is not a divine plan...just a consequence.

The time has come for people to multiply in smaller numbers.

Or plant 5 trees for each child.

:D

Yea I like that idea. Plant a Tree for Each Birth Movement! Whos with me??

No - it is not God's way of population control. War is man's attempt to change something. Natural disasters are God's attempt to get our attention so we will change.

I don't think it's population control. But then again, I have no idea why these things happen.

Have you ever heard the govt make mention of this? I'm sure most people would cooperate if they had known this was a growing problem. We have brains don't you give us credit for that?

They're more of a sign that humanity is not obeying God's commandments and moving to its next stage of development, the formation of a world federal government and world civilization.
