So I just purchased a new computer which alread had Windows Vista the Premium home edition installed on it. What is so great about this program? There are obviously some minor noticable changes but I don't see any major improvements from XP. What are your thoughts?

There are a number of differences, I work at OfficeMax and have talked with Microsoft Reps plus on the 10th of this month I'll be launching my own presentation to a store-wide scale of customers/colleagues.
Some of the larger upgrades/features/differences include..
BitDefender- Powerful anti-everything
Aero- 3d view of your desktop and file structure
Speed- Can return from Sleep and Standby in less than .5 seconds
Security- Far more secure than any Windows OS to date and is rated far more secure than Apple's OSX
Encryption- Hard drives are now encrypted incase they are stolen
MS Office- has a million new features and programs, including OneNote, more accurate spell checking and data retrieval incase a file accidently gets deleted

It doesen't look like very many improvements to me either, really if you want the best Vista Expierience you should wait about a year from now when everything is all worked out, right now it's too early to tell how well it can handle tasks. Personally I love XP, I'll be using my computers for years to come before I'd fork over $160 for Vista.

I havent found alot different yet either, I upgraded yesterday, which took almost 5 hours, then I spent most of the night fixing everything that didnt work or wasnt compatible, which was a whole lot, but its all working great now and everything seems to be running smoother than it did. I found lots of compatibility problems though and it was tough to fix them all.

Its more stable but other than cosmetic changes it appears pretty much the same.
