I served in the early 90's durning the Clinton term when they were focusing on miltary cut backs. I remember having to swear an Oath stating about "Serving my country" I am all for serving "OUR" country and couldn't give a rats back side about any other country and what they do, if "OUR" country was under attack at all times I was willing to put my life on the line for "OUR" country. With that thought in mind, if we were to mind our own business, stop wasting billions upon billions of dollars aiding other countries, and focused soley on "OUR" country what would the outcome be? Im sure that we have enough people with smarts, in a day of technology, in the US that can make up the things we have imported from other countries. If we built a wall all around the US and just focused on the US only, wouldn't that, reduce the price of everything, make us more "United", stop the numbers of deaths fighting a war, and make "OUR" country more at ease? Or would it make us more prown to attacks?

In a perfect world, I would agree. This isn't perfect by any stretch.

We are a global society, like it or not. If the US were to pull out of every country on earth and stay within it's borders, we would seige ourselves. Someone would fill that leadership void in the world and it may not be someone who would be very friendly to us.

Please don't think that just because we would no longer meddling in other people's affairs that the world would all the sudden start liking us. On the contrary, I think they would consider us arrogant and worthless. People complain about us but they also know they can't fully function without us, too.

All those billions of dollars in aid that we send to other countries helps keep them stable and secure. Also remember that we are not completely self sufficient yet. We still need outside oil assets and we have trade with many other countries. Bananas don't grow in the US, you know.

We must remain engaged with the entire world and it is important that we continue our role as a world leader in freedom and security. There are quite a few other countries who are depending on us.

well for one thing if the polititionss could get out of there own egos maybe we would have Medical insurance for all this war could have paid for that 20 times over. Our education system would be the finest and we would be able to help those that are having trouble learning. No more infant mortality no more hunger in the states that is appaulng. We could focus more on our country then other countries.
But i guess that is a dream that you and I may want but the US is so intreanched in the worlds resources because we here consum 80% of them then we must be into meddling and making governments do what is good for us not good for them. Iraq is a good example Bush wont be satisfied untill he has them all driving chevys. and preying to jesus instead of Muhammed. Agendas is what this adminastration lives on just like the others have done also this one just has bigger ones then any i can ever remember..
I know we will never be out of the woods in the mideast because we back Isreal We complain about the Irains giving supplys to the insurgents weve been doing tha for years with the Isrealies. Is it because they are GOOD and the Iraians are BAD We need to get rid of all devices that will destroy the world but that is a dream also. Build a wall we cant even build a good fence at mexico. stop drugs ha ha we cant even stop the drug flow in the prisons its all junk and Im sick of it but ill stay cause this is my place too thank yu for yor question

I see your concepts, and would have to aggree with some people, yet Ive thought of such things myself, but it boils down to money, power, and 7 deadly sins. It would be a wonderful concept if we could do such things, but the wall wouldn't work, BIO dome type thing maybe, like a force field or something. If we invested the billions of dollars on our country instead of wasting it on matters on trying to make other countries more like our country and let "people be people", and used that money to help the US as far as medical coverage, education, research and technology, amongst various other issues that our US people suffer from, it would be a wonderful thing and maybe people would respect our government and it's choices. However, within in reason, it's like trying to ask for world peace.

You sound like a nice enough guy and I sure wouldn't mind having you for a neighbor. But because your idea doesn't have a chance of happening it is just pure fantasy.

Until the wealth of the world is divided fairly among the earth's inhabitants, there will be war!
On second thought, there would probably still be wars. There is always something to fight about.

Just keeping to ourselves may not always be an option.

short answer: we live 'our country' and also our universe. if we begin to seclude ourselves our economy and other things will suffer. we became such a great country not alone but with the assistance of other countries for example Japan is and has been technologically advanced for years. The US can learn from them by partnering with this country in order to improve the technology. There is so much to learn from other countries and building a wall around our country would only lead to our downfall.

you do not comprehend. intense gas expenditures on the instantaneous are not to any extent further a outcome of grant/call for. they're a function of our very personal Federal Reserve (that is banks no longer authorities) straight away inflating the overseas money. international oil expenditures are counted in 'money'. even as the dollar turns into well worth a lot less it takes extra of them to purchase an similar quantity of oil. gas expenditures are not to any extent further about oil, they're about the inflation.

We have allies, such as Israel. Iran wants to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth. Iraq and Afghanistan border Iran(funny how that worked out). We can't sit back and let everyone kill each other and just hope it doesn't move over, by that time it is too late.

Maybe I'm alone on this but I think someone's life outside of our country is just as valuable as an American's and I would be proud to fight for them and with them.

You're an isolationist. The U.S. was this way during WW2 until the Japanese bombed us. Then, we threw out that way of thinking in order to stop all the little Hitlers of the world.

thanks for repeating the republican talking points about a guy who has been president for seven years now.

nothing about the iraq war makes us safer here at home.

nothing about the iraq war has anything to do with the broader war on terror - other than to make it worse.

nothing about the iraq war has anything to do with the 9/11 attacks.

nothing about the iraq war has anything to do with getting any payback for 9/11.
