Stay at the Hotel 1898 located at 109 La Rambla.
Fabulous location--literally on the Rambla and steps away from the center of the city and all the public transportation, tons of terrific outdoor cafes all around, street performers abound. Its a little pricey but worth every penny!! My husband & I stayed there this past October when we took our Mediterranean Cruise from the port of Barcelona and with just 24 hours to sightsee it gave us the most bang for the buck with its centrally placed location since a good percentage of the sights are within walking distance or an easy bus ride away. Also check out the bus passes for the double decker hop on-hop off tourist buses. What a bargain and what convenience! As far as embarkation and debarkation--It was a 10 minute cab ride from the cruise ship port and about 20 minutes to the airport. Have a wonderful honeymoon!

Frommer's Review
A true 21st-century hotel with an emphasis on interior design -- lots of glass panels, polished wood and brushed steel -- not dissimilar to Glasgow's landmark Lighthouse building. But because it's tucked away in the nether reaches of the city, few people have discovered it. Its advantages, aside from being a design hottie yet to be discovered, are its location along the eastern seaboard (great for hip city beaches like Bogatell and Mar Bella), which is an excellent location if your holiday aim is sunbathe by day, moon bathe and listen to local DJ talent by night. But it could seem a little far out for those wanting to explore the sights and soak of the atmosphere of old Barcelona, though nothing is ever far away by taxi. Bedrooms are sleek and spacious, all with en suite, light-filled bathrooms and many have sea views. Communal facilities include a Japanese garden for relaxing breakfasts and early evening cocktails, and a swanky, avant-garde restaurant. Check the website for deals. With rooms often going for less than 100€ ($115) a night, it's a real bargain.
The hotel is just a few blocks from the sea and you can walk there. It is not at the port but closer to the port than the airport. It has a restaurant, but we found several restaurants nearby AND, there is a shopping mall about 2 blocks away and more restauants. I found this site online and we booked with no recommendation but it was agreat room for the price.

I stayed at the Hotel Icaria in June. It's only about five minutes walk from the beach and a few minutes further to the bars, clubs and restaurants along the seafront. It's also in a good position to walk into the city although there are many bus stops along the street where the hotel is. As for the hotel itself, rooms are clean and have everything you need. The food is really good there too although you'll probably want to eat out most evenings. We shared a pizza though one lunchtime and it was really tasty. There is even a small outside pool although it was pretty cold, but still nice to sit around if you don't fancy the beach. I haven't been to the H10 Marina, but I'd definitely recommend the Icaria.

If you have air through the cruise line, you may want to consider booking the hotel through them as well. It seems to cost more but it includes transfer from the airport to hotel, hotel to ship and , on return, ship to airport.
Most of the time you can pack an overnight bag for the hotel and you do not have to deal with the bulk of your luggage after you get it off the carousel at the airport. the cruise line takes care of it for you until it is in your cabin on board. On a 10-14 day cruise, with lots of bags, this can be very nice.
Just a thought...Have a great holiday!

You can find one nearest to it here www.ytb.com/dicetravel . I booked my ticket, hotel, and car rental there too. Sometimes, the prices are cheaper than the regular prices. If not they will be about the same.
